OMSI with PS3 Dualshock / Sixaxis

OMSI is a bus simulator for Windows, I picked it up recently and it’s very fun. Unfortunately I have a steering wheel (Logitech Formula GP without Force) but am not allways able to mount that. Luckily I have a PS3 controller (Dualshock Sixaxis). So I decided to look if it was possible to map it.

This is what you need

-USB Cable
-Better DS3
-PS3_x64 Driver
-Extra bluetooth dongle (optional as it works also wired)

What I did first was setting up the Dualshock 3 so that it is recognized in BetterDS3.
Then I did make a new profile which makes the PS3 controller look like an Xbox360 controller.
This works very well, however there is no free view available when you are out or inside the bus.

Plus, OMSI does not recognize the DPAD on the Xbox360 controller. How did I fix this:

Map in Better DS3 as a Mouse / Keyboard and with the L2 and R2 buttons as analogue scales.

Dpad can now be recognized because it is mapped outside of OMSI in BetterDS3.

Dpad up = right blinker
Dpad down = left blinker
Dpad left = Cycle left views
Dpad right = Cycle right views
R2 = Trottle Analogue – linear setting combined  in OMSI
L2 = Brake Analogue – Linear setting combined in OMSI
Left stick = steering – bi-positive setting in OMSI
Right stick = mouse – when pressed R3 you have free roaming view 😀
Unfortunately you have to press R3 constantly but this is a minor issue.
Cross =
Circle =
Square =
Triangle =

PS-button = lock/unlock doors
Select = left door open/close
Start = right door open/close

L1 =
R1 =

I have set the mouse speed to the slowest otherwise the free view is too fast.

Todo: make steering more behave like mouse steering (more precise)

Download BetterDS3 OMSI profile

Place this file into the C:\Users\{username}\Appdata\Local\BetterDS3\ directory and restart BetterDS3
